About

Hello! My name is Anne Ross. Welcome to my world– where postcards, art, culture, history and mystery collide! I am a Postcard Historian. “Deltiologist” is a rather stuffy word, so I coined the term “Postcard Historian.” Since October 2022, I have been a writer for Picture Postcard Collecting magazine. My passion for postcards developed gradually. At first they were just a vehicle for digging into my family tree. But eventually my original career path intersected with the world of postcard collecting and my life came full circle.

Years ago, I studied art history only to switch to social work. Somewhere along the way, I discovered artist-signed postcards. These miniature works of art enchanted me. They also reconnected me with my old career. Soon, I began looking at artist-signed postcards with my art historian’s eye. Art history provided a very effective way to examine postcards on a deeper level. I had found my niche – interpreting artist-signed postcards through the lens of art history.

I would like to invite you all to travel back in time with me as we explore artist-signed postcards during Victorian and Edwardian times!

Let’s go down the postcard rabbit hole together!
